How to install LUTs in VN Video Editor

Updated · about 5 minutes

Quick answer

Save the unzipped .cube files to your phone, then in VN select a clip, tap Filter, open your filter folder and tap Import Filter to pick the .cube files from Files. Imported looks stay in the Filter panel with an intensity slider.

Works with
VN on iPhone, iPad and Android (and VN for Mac).
Which files
Cinematic bundle: the .cube files in each look's Luts Cube folder, for example DRONE BUNDLE/OCEAN/Luts Cube. GoPro pack: the .cube files in LUTs by drone-luts.com (CUBE).

Get the files onto your phone

  1. Download the zip on your phone, or AirDrop / save it to cloud storage from your computer.

  2. Unzip it: tap the .zip in the iPhone Files app, or use Files by Google → Extract on Android.

Import the looks as filters

  1. Open a project in VN and tap a clip, then tap Filter.

  2. Create a folder for your looks with the folder / + button (for example Drone LUTs) and open it.

  3. Tap Import Filter, browse to the unzipped folder and pick the .cube files. Some versions of VN import one file at a time.

  4. Tip on iPhone: AirDrop a .cube file to yourself and choose to open it with VN; it goes straight into your filters.

Apply a look

  1. Tap a clip, then Filter, and pick a look from your folder.

  2. Drag the intensity slider to set the strength.

  3. Tap the apply-to-all option if you want every clip in the project to use the same look.

Troubleshooting

VN will not import the file.

Pick the unzipped .cube file, not the zip. If a Cinematic look fails, try the smaller 33-point LUTs in the GoPro pack.
