How to install LUTs in Filmic Pro

Updated · about 5 minutes

Quick answer

In Filmic Pro, open the Imaging panel, go to the LUT pane and tap an empty slot to load a .cube file from your phone. You can keep up to 7 LUTs on iPhone (8 on Android) and use each one as a preview only or burn it into the recording.

Works with
Filmic Pro 7.4 and later on iPhone and Android. LUT import needs the paid tier.
Which files
Cinematic bundle: the .cube files in each look's Luts Cube folder, for example DRONE BUNDLE/OCEAN/Luts Cube (64-point works on iPhone). GoPro pack: the .cube files in LUTs by drone-luts.com (CUBE).

Get the files onto your phone

  1. Download the zip on your phone, or AirDrop / cloud-save it from your computer.

  2. Unzip it: tap the .zip in the iPhone Files app, or use Files by Google → Extract on Android.

Load a look into a LUT slot

  1. Open Filmic Pro and open the Imaging panel.

  2. Go to the LUT pane and tap an empty slot.

  3. Pick a .cube file in the file browser. You can nickname, replace or remove it from the same pane.

  4. Repeat for up to 7 looks on iPhone (8 on Android). Choose your favourites, as that is the limit.

Shoot with a look

  1. Select a LUT slot to see the look live in the preview.

  2. Choose whether the LUT is preview only (record clean footage and grade later) or burned in to the recording.

  3. Shooting in Filmic's log or flat profile? Preview a Rec.709 look and keep the recording clean, then apply the look again in your editor.

Troubleshooting

All my LUT slots are full.

Replace a slot from the LUT pane. Keep your other looks in an editor such as LumaFusion or VN.
