How to install LUTs in Adobe Lightroom Classic

Updated · about 5 minutes

Quick answer

In Lightroom Classic, open the Develop module, click + on the Presets panel, choose Import Presets… and select the .xmp files (or the .zip). Click a preset to apply it and set the strength with Amount.

Works with
Lightroom Classic 7.3 and later (current releases). Older versions use the .lrtemplate files; see below.
Which files
Cinematic bundle: the .xmp files in each look's XMP folder. GoPro pack: the .xmp profiles in Manual install for Lightroom and Capture One/IWLTBAP GoPro Pack XMP for Lightroom.

Import the presets

  1. Unzip the download first. Double-click the .zip on a Mac; on Windows right-click it and choose Extract All. Apps cannot read LUTs from inside a zip.

  2. Open the Develop module.

  3. In the Presets panel on the left, click + and choose Import Presets….

  4. Select the .xmp files (you can select a whole folder's worth at once, or a .zip of them) and click Import.

Apply a preset

  1. Select a photo in the Develop module.

  2. Hover over a preset in the Presets panel to preview it on the photo, then click to apply it.

  3. Use the Amount slider at the top of the Presets panel to make the look stronger or softer.

  4. To grade many photos at once, select them in the Library grid and pick the preset under Quick Develop → Saved Preset.

Older Lightroom (6 and Classic 7.2 or earlier)

  1. Open Preferences → Presets and click Show Lightroom Develop Presets.

  2. Open Develop Presets → User Presets and copy the .lrtemplate files from each look's LRtemplate folder into it.

  3. Restart Lightroom.

Troubleshooting

The presets imported but I cannot see them.

Presets made for raw files are hidden on JPEGs by default. In the Presets panel, click ⋯ (or right-click) and turn on Show Partially Compatible Presets.

Can I use the .cube LUTs in Lightroom?

No. Lightroom uses presets and profiles, not .cube files. The presets are included as matching versions of each look.
