How to install LUTs in Adobe Lightroom

Updated · about 5 minutes

Quick answer

In Lightroom on a computer, choose File → Import Profiles & Presets… and pick the .xmp files; they sync to your phone. On a phone, open a photo, tap Presets → Yours → ⋯ → Import Presets and choose the .xmp files.

Works with
Lightroom for Mac and Windows, and Lightroom mobile for iPhone, iPad and Android.
Which files
Desktop and current mobile apps: the .xmp files in each look's XMP folder. Older mobile apps: the .dng files in DNG Mobile (or DNG Presets). The Cinematic bundle also includes a short iPhone walkthrough video.

On a computer

  1. Unzip the download first. Double-click the .zip on a Mac; on Windows right-click it and choose Extract All. Apps cannot read LUTs from inside a zip.

  2. In Lightroom, choose File → Import Profiles & Presets….

  3. Select the .xmp files (or the .zip) and click Import.

  4. Open a photo, click Edit, then Presets, and pick a look. Adjust the Amount slider to taste.

  5. Signed in with the same Adobe account on your phone? The presets sync to Lightroom mobile automatically.

On a phone or tablet (XMP)

  1. Save the download to your phone. On iPhone, open it in the Files app and tap the .zip to unzip it; on Android, use Files by Google and tap Extract.

  2. In Lightroom mobile, open any photo and tap Presets at the bottom.

  3. Tap Yours, then the ⋯ menu, and choose Import Presets.

  4. Pick the .xmp files (or the whole .zip) and confirm. The looks appear under Yours.

On an older mobile app (DNG method)

  1. Unzip the download as above.

  2. In Lightroom mobile, tap the add-photos button and import the .dng files from a look's DNG Mobile folder.

  3. Open one of the DNG photos, tap ⋯ at the top right and choose Create Preset.

  4. Name it (for example Ocean 1), put it in a group such as Drone LUTs, and tap the tick.

  5. Repeat for each DNG. You can delete the DNG photos afterwards; the presets stay.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Import Presets on my phone.

Update Lightroom mobile from the App Store or Google Play, or use the DNG method, which works on every version.

Synced presets are missing on my phone.

Check you are signed in with the same Adobe account on both devices and that sync is on, then give it a minute on Wi-Fi.
